Connect your AI

Premium and Premium+ members can connect an AI assistant to Men of Hunger. The assistant reads the Lodge for you: it can summarize your feed, catch you up on a thread, find posts and articles, and suggest members to meet. It cannot post, reply, follow or change anything. If it finds something worth answering, it links you to the post and you reply yourself.

Server address (MCP over HTTPS, OAuth sign-in):

Set up and manage connections under Settings › Connect your AI, which also shows how many calls you have left today.

Connect an assistant

  • Claude (claude.ai, desktop, mobile). Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector. Name it Men of Hunger, paste the address above, then sign in on the Men of Hunger consent page.
  • Claude Code. Run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user --callback-port 8787 menofhunger https://api.menofhunger.com/mcp, then run /mcp in Claude Code and choose Authenticate.
  • ChatGPT. Turn on Developer mode, add a connection from the Plugins page, name it Men of Hunger, paste the address and choose OAuth. Leave the optional client ID and secret empty.
  • Cursor. Add the address as an MCP server in Cursor Settings. Sign in when asked.

Client registration is automatic. On the consent page, choose Allow read access.

What the assistant can read

Thirteen read-only tools: your connection status, your profile, the Lodge feed, a single post and its replies, a member's posts and profile, search, your bookmarks, your notifications, articles, and Bible passages.

Results are short summaries with links back to the site. Direct messages, group posts and contact details are never included. Reading through the assistant does not mark notifications as read, record post views, or save your searches.

Three starter prompts are built in: a Lodge briefing, catching up on a thread, and who you should meet.

Limits

  • 200 tool calls per day (UTC) and 30 per minute. Listing tools is free.
  • Premium is checked on every request. If it ends, the connection stops working until you renew, then reconnect.
  • Access tokens last 15 minutes and refresh quietly; the sign-in itself expires after 30 days, so reconnect then.

Disconnect

Settings › Connect your AI lists each connected app with when it connected and was last used. Disconnect removes it immediately. The list stays visible after Premium ends so you can still remove old connections.
